Sia defends using a 15-year-old dancer as her muse
Maddie Ziegler has been the face of Sia whilst on tour.
Sia's identity is often hidden by a her iconic black and blonde wig while performing - leaving 15-year-old Maddie to be the face and movement of the show. The pop artist has mentioned that she does not want the spotlight, but a new piece online suggests the singer seems willing to expose a 15-year-old to the same limelight she avoids.
The pair began working together after she spotted Maddie on the US show Dance Moms and invited her to star in one of her videos. The talented duo have gone on to have a flourishing partnership, but not one without criticism.
In the music video for Elastic Heart where Maddie was 12-years-old caused a bit of a uproar. Though she apologised, fan say she was sexualising the young girl. Since then, over the years the pair have been a match made in creative heaven.
The article poses the question, "If fame is so damaging, why pass it on to a child?" Sia took to Twitter to defend her 'mini-me' choices:
"Can't or shouldn't be charged with making sound choices for themselves and so I do try to choose the best for her always. But I think this is an important conversation." she goes on.
The star has just wrapped up a two-date tour of Australia.
