Sam Smith says he wants the next Bond to be old-school
Sam Smith says he's after a classic Bond after Daniel Craig
Having recorded and then hit the Number One spot with theme tune Writing's On The Wall, Sam Smith's got a lot to say on the topic of James Bond.
In a new interview with NME (which will be featured in tomorrow's issue of the magazine), the softly-spoken singer says he'd love the new James Bond to be classic, like Roger Moore or Sean Connery. Of the current Bond, Daniel Craig, Sam said "He was my favourite initially. I hadn't seen all the old movies, and I loved how modern his take on Bond was."
Sam then goes on to say: "But when I went back and watched them all, I realised that it's Connery and Moore who I love the most. I think I'd like the next Bond to be more of a return to that."
The topic of who will take the Bond title after Daniel Craig, who has has said that Spectre will be his last James Bond movie, is under much debate. The likes of Idris Elba, Damian Lewis and Tom Hardy have all been thrown into the ring, but it won't be until next June that the new actor will be officially announced.
