Riverdale actress Lili Reinhart shames magazine for drastically Photoshopping her waist
She wasn’t happy with the alteration
Riverdale actress Lili Reinhart, who plays Betty Cooper in the hit Netflix series, has taken to Instagram to shame Cosmopolitan Philippines after they drastically altered a photo of her waist following a photoshoot.
The 21-year-old actress took to her Instagram Story to share a photo showing how her waist had been reduced to make her seem thinner than she is.
The magazine had also altered the appearance of Lili’s co-star Camila Mendes, who plays Veronica Lodge in the TV show. The actress wrote on her Story, ‘Happy International Women's Day!" she continued, "@Lilireinhart and I feel disrespected and disturbed by the sight of our photoshopped bodies in @cosmopolitan_philippines.
'We want their readers to know that those bodies are not ours; they have been distorted from their natural beauty. We prefer to see our bodies the way they actually are. I'm not interested in having a slimmer waist. I'm more than satisfied with the one that I already have. Much love and self respect, Camila and Lili.’ sic
The pictures have since been removed from the Cosmopolitan Philippines Instagram page.
Riverdale is a show about a group of teenagers, Archie and his gang, who have to navigate the troubled waters of teen sex, romance, school and family all entangled in a dark Riverdale mystery. The show also stars KJ Apa as Archie Andrews and Cole Sprouse who plays Jughead Jones.
Lili and Cole are together both on and off screen. After months of rumours Lili and Cole confirmed their relationship at a 2017 Comic-Con when they were spotted "holding hands and kissing" at an afterparty.
Riverdale returned for the second part of season two on the 8th March.
Lili and Camila aren’t the only actresses to shame publications for altering their appearance. Back in January, Oscar winners Reese Witherspoon and Oprah Winfrey turned Vanity Fair’s Photoshop fail into a joke.
Reese tweeted, 'Well...I guess everybody knows now...I have 3 legs. I hope you can still accept me for who I am. 😃( and I will never apologize for snuggling @Oprah .. if you get the opportunity, I highly recommend it;)'. sic
Oscar winner Oprah Winfrey also had a sense of humour about the whole thing tweeting, 'I accept your 3d leg. As I know you accept my 3d hand👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾❤️'
Reese then responded saying, 'Love you @Oprah !!! 👋👋👋💖'.
