Riverdale bosses have confirmed the hit TV show will address the heartbreaking death of Luke Perry. The news comes after the production of the show was stopped in the wake of the former 90210 star's passing. It is still unclear how the actor’s death will be dealt with.

Executive producer of the show, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, told Entertainment Tonight, “We know that we have to address it in some way, but we’re giving ourselves a little bit of time before we figure out the best way to honour him”.

The news comes after Roberto took to Twitter to post a tribute, saying he was "heartbroken".

There are still episodes of Riverdale to air with Perry’s character in them. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has said all remaining episodes will be dedicated to him.

Luke played Fred Andrews in the popular Netflix TV show, joining in 2017 as Archie’s dad. KJ Apa, who plays Archie, posted this tribute on Instagram which simply stated “Rest in Love bro”.

Other cast members have also paid tributes. Cole Sprouse, who plays Jughead Jones, told James Corden on The Late Late Show, “He was one of the guys that you never heard a bad word said about him in Hollywood”.

Luke was set to marry his fiancée Wendy Madison Bauer on August 17th after 11 years together. They had even sent out ‘save the date’ cards.

Speaking of his untimely death, Wendy said, “The countless, heart-warming stories of Luke’s generosity and kindness have been a great source of solace. I want to express my gratitude to everyone for the outpouring of love and support”.

Luke Perry's children, Jack and Sophie, also took to Instagram to thank fans for their kind words.

Our thoughts are with his family at this time.
