Love Island 2018's Adam Collard has revealed he has spoken to ex-girlfriend Zara McDermott after she almost got caught up in a horrific knife attack outside London's Tape nightclub last weekend.

Zara - who announced her split from Adam recently - was celebrating fellow Islander Ellie Brown's birthday at the club as three men were stabbed amidst a brawl outside; and now Adam's revealed the pair have since been in touch to discuss the incident.

Speaking on This Morning, Adam said, "Obviously I’ve spoken to Zara. My heart dropped when I heard about it because I knew she was actually in the club as it happened.

"She said she came outside saw some commotion and one individual on the floor with blood on them. It's horrible to hear about. I think that luckily they were five minutes too late."

Asked about the reason behind his split from Zara, Adam explained, "It’s really hard. It would be easy to get out of a relationship if someone had done anything wrong but that’s not the case. We’re just not getting on."

Revealing the pair are still in touch, Adam said, "She rang me before I came on and said good luck."

So they've definitely split, right?

"We're not a couple," he confirmed. "It's hard. Zara has categorically said Adam has not done anything wrong. To me it’s just ran it’s course. It’s hard to get over that."
