Jordan Banjo reveals how being a dad has prepared him for KISS Breakfast 🤣
He'll be on air with Perri Kiely every weekday from 7am!
Last updated 3rd Dec 2021
We cannot WAIT for our boys Jordan Banjo and Perri Kiely to head up KISS Breakfast - and there's not much longer to wait, as they'll be kicking off from Monday 3rd August! Since joining the KISS family last year, we've loved every second of the Diversity boys on air, and we're super hyped for them to start your mornings in the best way.
Perri and Jordan spoke out about their new show on Lorraine today, with Jordan revealing that the early starts are nothing to him anymore since welcoming his two children, son Cassius and daughter Mayowa!
Jordan said, "We have to get up at three o’clock to get in for half three, so it’s an early one. I’ve already been trained up. Now I wake up, I come in, see my friends and my team, I interview big people, listen to good music or it’s stay home, get up the same time and get cornflakes thrown at me by a two-year-old!"
He also spoke about why their show is so special - and it's all down to their years of friendship, "Me and Pel have a relationship you can’t learn. We’ve grown up with each other, all of our experiences have been together so to have the opportunity to put that friendship on the air and bring people into it, I think that’s the main brief for us it’s what we’re really excited about."
Perri agreed, "This is genuinely no different to what we do in every day life. We’re together, we’re making jokes, we’re talking about things that are happening in the world, listening to music and just generally having fun."
The lads also spoke out about the Black Lives Matter movement, as Jordan explained how it had affected them, "I think everyone’s grown up with different experiences. I feel like, for myself personally, for a long time, I felt like it was something I couldn’t speak about, especially in a public space without a severe backlash.
"So for us to be in a position where stuff’s started to come into the limelight, everyone was talking about it, not just black people, everyone was recognising there was a problem. For me, as much as the trigger was an awful event, the fact it’s now happened I’m only seeing positioning in the situation. It’s incredible to be a part of it and it’s incredible we can even talk about it now."
Perri added, "It’s nice we can just speak about it now. We’ve constantly got to that platform, we can push that message, it’s super important that we all talk about it. It’s not a trend, there is an issue and we need to address it and it’s amazing we now can."
