Ed Sheeran made an MBE by Prince Charles
Congratulations!
Ed Sheeran's 2017 has already been pretty amazing, but it's just stepped up another level as he was finally made an MBE by Prince Charles earlier today.
Ed was originally announced to receive an MBE back in June, for the Queen's birthday honours list, but it has taken until now for him to be officially given the award.
Clarence House has posted photos of the ceremony on Twitter showing the 'Shape Of You' singer shaking hands with the Prince of Wales, as he receives the award for 'services to music and charity'.
Although usually known for wearing very casual clothes, Ed could be seen looking very dapper wearing a black morning suit jacket, with grey trousers for this special occasion.
Another tweet by Clarence House included a quote from Ed which said, '... my grandfather... he died on this day four years ago, so it's actually quite a nice full circle thing, I guess he'd be pretty proud.'
They also tweeted a photo of the proud singer holding the medal in its box.
According to reports during a conversation after receiving his award the 'Lego House' singer said that although he hadn't been asked by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to perform on there special day he would be happy to. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement last week and there has been much speculation as to who will be attending the Royal wedding.
It has been a mega busy year for Ed, not only did he headline Glastonbury, he has also had countless number ones and took over the charts earlier this year with his latest album 'Divide'.
He has also recently revealed that he has featured on Eminem's album, which is due out next week! Making the announcement on Instagram Ed said, 'I've had to hold onto this secret for a long time, but since it's just been announced I can now tell you all.'
He's unstoppable!
