Rumer Willis gives new update on Bruce Willis' dementia diagnosis
He was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in 2023
Just over a year ago in February 2023, Bruce Willis' family revealed the sad news that the actor had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia. The diagnosis came after he was previously diagnosed with Aphasia, which had led to him stepping away from acting as he was having difficulty with speech and language.
Bruce is known for his roles in the Die Hard films, The Sixth Sense, and Pulp Fiction and his daughter Rumer Willis has now updated fans once again on her dad's condition, telling them he's "doing ok".
The actress told Fox News: "He’s great. Yeah, yeah, doing OK. Thank you so much for asking."
She went on to say: "I think, for me, through this experience, what’s been so incredible is my dad is so beloved, and that’s been so evident in the transparency with which we’ve been sharing.
"And I think if there’s any way sharing our experience brings hope — whatever comes forward as a family — that can have an effect and bring any sort of hope, comfort to someone else experiencing that, then to me, that’s … everything."
This update follows one previously from Bruce's daughter Tallulah back in November when she told The Drew Barrymore show: "What's going on with my dad - he has a really aggressive cognitive disease, a form of dementia that's very rare."
Tallulah went on to explain why the family have been so open about Bruce's diagnosis, saying: "Well, I think it's twofold. On one hand, it's who we are as a family, but also, it's really important for us to spread awareness about FTD. If we can take something that we're struggling with as a family, and help other people to turn it around, to make something beautiful about it, that's really special for us."
