Beyoncé sends yet another cease-and-desist to a pop-up bar
But they have plans to slay right into the new year anyway!
After announcing a Latin-themed pop-up paying homage to Beyoncé and other women, Leyenda in Brooklyn received a cease-and-desist letter from the desk of 'Yoncé. Going by 'Sleyenda', the pop-up is to run through to Dec. 27. Unfortunately, just like the last brand that tried it, Bey wasn't too thrilled by the bar’s ornaments, tree decor and stockings in the shape of her name and face.
The brand has since changed slightly to avoid any legal implications. The letter reads, "There is a line, however, between fandom and infringement of intellectual property rights, and we are concerned that this pop-up bar will cross that line.”
Leyenda co-owner Ivy Mix in a interview says she was “a little bummed Beyoncé didn’t share the enthusiasm.” and the gesture was intended for “female empowerment,” although it's a little confusing how.
Another one bites the dust.
Leyenda also pay homage to Gwen Stefani and Katy Perry.
