Everton has officially taken over its new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium after the completion of the construction phase of the waterfront project.

Club executives, including Chairman Marc Watts and Interim CEO Colin Chong, joined representatives from construction firm Laing O’Rourke for a ceremonial handover.

The project, which began three-and-a-half years ago, remains on schedule.

The stadium will now enter a six-month fit-out phase starting in the New Year.

This work will include finalizing the interiors, installing audio-visual systems, and preparing bars, restaurants, and retail spaces. The venue is set to host its first competitive match at the start of the 2025/26 football season.

Marc Watts, Executive Chairman said:

“This stadium represents a new chapter for Everton, providing a venue that will support the Club’s growth while offering a modern home for our supporters.”

The project has been supported financially by The Friedkin Group, which recently acquired Everton, ensuring its progress through global challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and supply chain disruptions.

Interim CEO Colin Chong acknowledged the efforts of all involved, noting:

“This has been a collaborative effort, and we’re pleased to take control of a site that will soon be a key feature of both the Club and the city of Liverpool.”

Laing O’Rourke will continue to have a presence at the site in early 2025 to ensure the stadium meets quality standards. Before its official opening, Everton plans to hold a series of test events to prepare for its debut season at the new venue.

The stadium is part of the £5 billion Liverpool Waters regeneration project in the city’s Northern Docks.

It is expected to generate £1.3 billion for the UK economy and attract 1.4 million visitors to Liverpool annually.
