Little Simz gives powerful speech after her first BRIT Award win
It was a big night for the 'Sometimes I Might Be Introvert' rapper

We were so happy to see British rapper Little Simz win her first BRIT at The BRIT Awards 2022 with MasterCard, when she took home the award for Best New Artist. Little Simz then gave a powerful acceptance speech where she talked about her journey and thanked her family, friends and fans.
Little Simz - who also gave an incredible performance during the night - was joined on stage by her mum for her acceptance speech. Her mum had proudly held the award high and showed it to the crowd.
She said: “Wow, thank you so much, mum look at what you done, look at what you done. I want to say thank you to everyone that supported me on this journey so far.
"My name is Simbiatu Abisola Abiola Ajikawo, I’m from North London, Islington, grew up on a council estate, I’m an independent artist and to be here tonight, receiving this award is such a blessing. I’m so grateful, I want to say thank you to my team.”
She continued: “Thank you to my family, my brother, my sisters, my nieces, my nephews, I want to say thank you so much to God.
“I want to say anyone who is watching this at home, I am living proof that if you work hard at something, no matter where you come from, no matter your background, no matter your race, you can do something extraordinary. This is for all the kids dreaming, keep dreaming, keep pushing, I am you and you are me. Blessings, thank you so much.”

Outside of winning the Award, the ceremony was a big night for Simz, who also performed a medley of her songs 'Introvert' and 'Woman' in one of the stand out performances of the night. The performance featured none other than The Crown's Emma Corrin and saw Simz switch up her sound and make an iconic costume change.
The Award marks Little Simz first BRIT Award. She was also nominated for Best Hip Hop/Rap/Grime Act, British Artist of the Year and British Album of the Year for her critically acclaimed 2021 album 'Sometimes I Might Be Introvert.'

Whilst she lost out on Best Hip Hop/Rap/Grime Act to Dave, he gave her a shout out in his acceptance speech, saying: "Simz I’m so proud of you." The two rappers had starred together in the TV show 'Top Boy' back in 2019.
Simz also got a shout out from none other than Adele, who said: “I want to say a massive congratulations for Little Simz, I've got so much love for you. Dave, Ed, Sam I'm so proud to be in your company. I love being an artist, I really do and I genuinely can't believe that it's my job."
This marks a big moment for the rapper, as the highest profile award she has won up to this point, and we can't wait to see where her career takes her next.
