Third man dies after horror crash

A third man who was in a car that crashed in Whalley Range has died.

A third man has died following a collision in Whalley Range in the early hours of Wednesday (27 April 2016)

Police followed a white Audi S5 driving at high speed on Wilbraham Road at around 3am until a short time later it collided with two parked cars and a street sign on Wilbraham Road

Two men, aged 20 and 24, who were in the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene.

A third man, 21, who was taken to hospital with serious injuries, died on Thursday.

A 17-year-old boy who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been bailed until 11 June 2016 pending further enquiries.

A 19-year-old, who remains in hospital, was also arrested on suspicion of the same offence but has since been de-arrested and is still being treated for his injuries.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the incident.

Police Constable Paul Joynson of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "This is a tragic set of circumstances and three young men have lost their lives.

"Our condolences remain with their families at this very difficult time and we have specially trained officers providing them with support.

"We are continuing to appeal for witnesses and I want to urge anybody who may have witnessed the collision or who has information that they feel may assist our investigation to please contact police."
