Police seek "scumbags" over racial attack in Ashton

The unprovoked attack happened on Tuesday night on Darnton Road.

Police are hunting 3 men in connection with a racial attack on a man in Ashton-under-Lyne

Shortly before 7pm on Tuesday the 26th of April a 43-year-old man was stopped in traffic in his Silver Nissan Micra on Darnton Road when he was approached by three men in a white Ford style van.

The three men started shouting racial abuse at him.

Another man then joined the group and they all continued with the racial abuse, before pulling the man from his car and punching and kicking him in the face and body.

The offenders then got back in their van and drove off in unknown direction.

The victim suffered cuts and abrasions to his head, face and body.

All offenders are described as middle aged white men, three with brown hair and one bald. Two of them are also described as having “beer bellies”

PC Darren Roberts from GMP‘s Tameside division said,

“An innocent man has been racially abused and assaulted leaving him incredibly shaken up and we will not tolerate this type of behaviour on our streets.

“The assault happened on a busy road and someone must have seen something of the incident. If you have any information no matter how small please get in contact so we can detain and question the scumbags that have done this.”
