Police launch appeal following Dukinfield arson

Police investigating arson in Dukinfield are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. Shortly before 5am on Sunday 21 August 2016, police were called to reports of a fire at a flat on Peel Terrace, Dukinfield. Whilst serious damage was caused to the property, no-one was injured and the occupants of the house, a man and a woman, managed to get out unharmed. A joint investigation has been launched between GMFRS and GMP to establish the full circumstances of the fire. A 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and remains in police for custody police questioning. Detective Inspector Chris Simpson of GMP’s Tameside Borough said: “I would appeal to anyone who has information about the arson or saw what happened, to get in touch with police.” Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 9262 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
