Fatal Crash Kills 9yr Old
Dad and sister taken to hospital.
Shortly after 10.50am police were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Manchester Road near to Stamford Road in Altrincham.
Officers arrived and found a black Toyota Auris had hit a brick wall by a block of flats.
Police discovered a man and two children in the vehicle.
A 45-year-old man and an 11-year-old girl have been taken to hospital
Sadly a 9-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene.
They are all believed to be from the same family.
Police originally believed that two boys had run from the vehicle shortly after the collision. This was confirmed to be incorrect information and police are no longer searching for any other passengers.
An investigation is ongoing and police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the collision to contact police as soon as possible.
Sergeant Brian Orr from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit told us:
“My thoughts are with the family at this devastating time, we will be doing all that we can to support them.
“Our initial enquiries led us to believe that two young boys had fled the vehicle shortly after the collision. We now know this to be incorrect information and our search for any other passengers has been stood down.
Our focus is now to find out how this collision happened and we are appealing for anyone with any information to get in touch with police.”
