Ed Sheeran to star in 'Home and Away'
The singer has bagged a part in the famous Australian soap
Ed Sheeran has been in the news a lot recently, selling out stadiums, getting a lion tattoo (or not depending on reports) and donating money to charity, but this time it's something a bit different.
As we reported earlier this year the 'Photograph' singer is due to make an appearance on the Australian soap opera, 'Home and Away'. Recently the official Twitter account tweeted "What's @EdSheeran doing in Summer Bay?" to which Ed replied "trying to pretend I like the sun".
Ed will be playing the part of 'Teddy' who was looked after by Marilyn during her time in the UK. The scenes featuring Ed which include him performing at 'The Diner' in Summer Bay were filmed earlier this year and will appear in Australia next week and in the UK later this year.
In an interview Ed said that "it sounded like it could be fun." He has previously starred in Shortland Street, a prime time soap opera in New Zealand and said he would also accept a part on Eastenders or Emmerdale if he was asked.
Ed will be the first international celebrity to make an appearance on the show, while fellow Aussie soap 'Neighbours' has seen the likes of Lily Allen, Emma Bunton and Paula Abdul appear in scenes.
'Home and Away' is shown on weekdays at 1.15pm and 6pm on Channel 5.
