Met Police officers were alerted to an incident taking place on Waverley Road area of Tottenham at around 8:45pm on Thursday evening (March 20th).

When responders arrived, they found that two men had suffered serious gunshot wounds - with a 27-year-old suffering a shot to the head, with a 25-year-old being wounded in the leg.

Emergency services were called to the scene to provide emergency medical attention to the victims; however, despite everything, the 27-year-old man was pronounced dead a short time later.

The 25-year-old man who suffered a gunshot wound to the leg currently remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Now, officers revealed that the victim, aged 27, was named Mahad Abdi Mohamed; his family are being supported by the Met Police as the investigation remains ongoing.

In a statement, Mahad's family paid tribute to him, saying: "Our family is grieving the profound loss of a son, a brother, a father and a friend. We kindly ask for privacy during this incredibly difficult time. We are grateful for your understanding and support."

Speaking amid the ongoing murder investigation, Detective Chief Inspector Rebecca Woodsford from the Met Police said: "Two men were shot on a residential street on Thursday, with one man sadly losing his life. My thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends at this time.

“We recognise the impact this will have on the local community. My team are working diligently to gather evidence and establish what led to this tragedy. I would ask any local residents with concerns to speak to officers at the scene, or to their local neighbourhood policing teams.

“I continue to ask for anyone who was in the area, past 20:00hrs on Thursday, 20 March, to please contact police if you heard or saw something suspicious. Your knowledge is critical to this investigation, and it may help us locate the suspects. Please do the right thing and come forward, you will be supported.”

Currently, no arrests have been made following the incident and a crime scene cordon remains in place as the investigation continues.
