Two men confirmed to have died after light aircraft crash near Selby

Two men have died in a light aircraft crash near the North Yorkshire town of Selby, prompting a major emergency response.
Officers from North Yorkshire Police were alerted to an incident taking place in the village of Thorganby at 9:50am on Sunday (July 28th).
The force attended the crash to investigate the incident, and was joined by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service.
As well as this, North Yorkshire Police confirmed they were at the scene at the same time to retrieve any victims and investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The force confirmed that a two-seater light aircraft had crashed into a field, with people in the aeroplane when it hit the ground.
"Sadly, two men in their 20s believed to be the pilot and passenger have been pronounced dead," the force added.
"Their next of kin have been told and formal identification processes are currently under way. No further injuries have been reported."
Police said they are now working with the Air Accident Investigation Branch to establish the cause of the fatal crash.
Meanwhile, several roads around the village have been shut as emergency services continue to deal with the incident.
A statement from Yorkshire Ambulance Service in the initial stages of the response said: "We received an emergency call at 9.50am on Sunday morning reporting an incident involving a light aircraft at Thorganby near York.
"A number of our resources have responded to the incident."
