Man arrested after three found dead in Nottingham
Police are continuing to deal with a serious ongoing incident in the city

Police dealing with a serious ongoing incident in Nottingham have confirmed a man's been arrested on suspicion of murder.
The force say a 31 year-old man's been arrested on suspicion of murder after three people were killed in the city centre early this morning.
Officers were called to Ilkeston Road just after 4am where two people were found dead in the street.
Police were then called to another incident in Milton Street where a van had attempted to run over three people - they are currently being treated in hospital.
A man has also been found dead in Magdala Road.
A resident on Ilkeston Road said a policewoman was “banging on my door” at around 5am asking for any CCTV footage.
The man, who asked to only be known as Wayne, said he was told the incident happened around 4.10am before being asked if he had witnessed anything.
“I didn’t see or hear anything, but I’m not surprised this sort of thing has happened around here,” he added.
Lynn Haggitt told BBC News she was feeling “shaky” after describing seeing a white van drive at three people near the Theatre Royal in Nottingham this morning.
She was on her way to work when she witnessed the crash, saying there was "such a bang, I wish I never saw it, it's really shaken me up."
Ms Haggitt said the van left the scene before she went over to see if the people who'd been hit were okay.
“The woman was sitting up on the kerb, she looked OK. The man was laying down, but then he got up, sat on the side waiting for an ambulance,” Ms Haggitt said, adding “I can’t believe he was able to get up after the head wound”.
Officers remain on the scene at a number of locations across the city.
There is a large police cordon in the Theatre Royal area, with a heavy presence from fire crews and other emergency responders.
NELO officers, specialised in counter terrorism and other critical incidents, are also on the scene.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Home Secretary Suella Braverman are closely monitoring developments events in Nottingham, Downing Street said.
The Prime Minister’s official spokesman said Mr Sunak was informed about the incidents “early this morning”.
“He is being kept up to date on the latest developments here,” the spokesman said.
“This is a live police investigation.
“A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder so I’m limited in what I can say, but both he and the Home Secretary are closely monitoring the latest developments.”
Multiple road closures remain in place and all services have been suspended on the tram network.
The following roads are currently closed:
- Ilkeston Road
- Milton Street
- Maples Street
- Magdala Road
- Woodborough Road from junction of Magdala Road into the city
- Maid Marian Way junction of Parliament Street
NCT buses and EMR Trains are accepting tram tickets and passes for those diverting their route.
"Horrific and tragic incident"
The ongoing incident in Nottingham has shocked many.
Kate Meynell, Chief Constable of Nottinghamshire Police has said: "This is an horrific and tragic incident which has claimed the lives of three people.
"We believe these three incidents are all linked and we have a man in custody.
"This investigation is at its early stages and a team of detectives is working to establish exactly what has happened."
Many people have taken to social media to react to the news coming out of Nottingham this morning.
Nottingham Forest say they're "devastated" to hear the news this morning.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said he is being kept updated on the “shocking incident” in Nottingham as police investigate, and he paid tribute to those who have lost their lives and their families.
Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer said his thoughts were with the family and friends of those who had died and were injured in Nottingham.
He tweeted: “Awful news from Nottingham this morning.
“My thoughts are with the family and friends of those who have lost their lives, those injured, and the people of Nottingham.
“Thank you to the police and the emergency services as they respond to this terrible incident.”
Home Secretary Suella Braverman said she is “shocked and saddened” at the deaths in Nottingham and has spoken with the Chief Constable of Nottinghamshire Police.
She tweeted: “I am shocked & saddened that three people have lost their lives today in Nottingham. My thoughts are with those affected by this incident.
“I have spoken to @nottspolice Chief Constable & am receiving regular updates. I am thankful to the emergency services for their response.”
Meanwhile, the Conservative MP for Newark has thanked police for their efforts adding that everyone in Nottinghamshire "shares a sense of shock".
Robert Jenrick posted on twitter that his "thoughts and prayers are with those injured and with the family and friends of those killed."
Nottingham’s three Labour MPs, Nadia Whittome, Lilian Greenwood and Alex Norris, said they were “shaken” by the events in the city.

Nottingham Open to commence "as planned"- organisers
The Nottingham Open is set to commence as planned on Tuesday despite what police described as an "horrific and tragic incident" in the city centre.
A number of roads are closed following the arrest of a man on suspicion of murder after three people were found dead - two in Ilkeston Road and then a man in Magdala Road.
Tournament organisers announced that play will go ahead as scheduled at 11am, but warned spectators to expect delays en route.
An LTA statement read: "Spectators should be aware of travel disruption around Nottingham city centre this morning due to a police incident.
"Play will commence at 11am as normal, but please be aware your travel may take longer than normal."
