Met Office issues yellow thunderstorm warning across northern UK

The Met Office has issued a yellow thunderstorm warning for much of the north of the UK.
Intense thunderstorms are expected across the region on Monday (August 12th), which stretches across the entirety of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The North of England will also be affected by the warnings, with the area affected reaching as far south as Manchester and West Yorkshire.
Meteorologists have said that thunderstorms will cause spray and sudden flooding in the areas affected, which could cause disruption on the roads.
Some communities have also been warned they could be temporarily cut off due to the amount of rainfall.
Power cuts are also expected, according to the Met Office and that businesses and homes could be hit during the course of the warning.
The Met Office said: "Although not all parts of the warning area are expected to see them, an area of increasingly organised thunderstorms is likely to produce a combination of frequent lightning, heavy rain, hail and short periods of strong winds.
"Some torrential downpours are likely, with 20-40 mm in places, and a potential for 40-60 mm of rain to fall in 1-2 hours very locally, with hail up to 2 cm in diameter."
The warning is set to last between 2am on Monday morning and will last until 1pm in the afternoon.
