Bomb disposal expert working for Manchester charity injured in Gaza

A bomb disposal expert working for a Manchester-based charity in Gaza has been injured in an explosion.

The blast at the Imago / Alamy Stock Photo facility on Wednesday also killed a UN worker and injured four others.

The Mines Advisory Group (MAG) said the 51-year-old British man's condition is unknown and he has been taken to hospital in Israel.

In a statement posted on social media, MAG said its thoughts are with "him, his family and everyone affected."

Israeli strikes killed at least 58 Palestinians across the Gaza Strip overnight and into Thursday, according to three hospitals.

The strikes hit multiple homes in the middle of the night, killing men, women and children as they slept.

Israel resumed heavy strikes across Gaza on Tuesday, shattering a ceasefire that had halted the war and facilitated the release of more than two dozen hostages.

Israel blamed the renewed fighting on Hamas because the militant group rejected a new proposal that departed from their signed agreement.
