Krist Novoselic joined his former Nirvana band mate Dave Grohl on stage at a Foo Fighters gig on Tuesday night (5th December).

Two songs before the encore, Krist arrived on stage to a rapturous welcome from the Matthew Knight Arena crowd in Eugene, Oregon and proceeded to perform ‘Big Me’ with Dave, former Nirvana touring member Pat Smear and the rest of the Foo Fighters crew.

Watch fan-filmed footage of the performance here:

Elsewhere in the set, Foo Fighters unleashed a flurry of covers; Van Halen’s ‘Eruption’, Alice Cooper’s ‘Under My Wheels’, Queen’s ‘Another One Bites The Dust’ and ‘Under Pressure’, Rush’s ‘Tom Sawyer’, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ ‘Breakdown’ and The Ramones’ ‘Blitzkrieg Pop’.

Kirst Novoselic was, of course, invited to join Foo Fighters when Dave formed his new project in 1994 but he declined.

Still good friends with Dave, Krist first performed with Foo Fighters at Seattle’s Memorial Stadium in August 1997 where he played bass on covers of Prince’s ‘Purple Rain’ and Led Zeppelin’s ‘Communication Breakdown’.

He also performed a version of Nirvana’s ‘Marigold’ at Paladino's in Tarzana, California in 2010 with the Foos and guested on a rendition of ‘These Days’ in East Rutherford, New Jersey in 2011.

Krist, Dave and Pat also performed at Nirvana’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014 with pop singer Lorde. The Nirvana trio were also members of Dave’s supergroup Sound City Players.

In the studio, Krist performed accordion and bass on 2010 ‘Wasting Light’ track ‘I Should Have Known’ and sang backing vocals for a non-album track titled ‘Walking a Line’ that was later released on the special edition of 2002 album ‘One by One’.

Foo Fighters have a penchant for inviting guests on stage with them – the Concrete and Gold Tour has already seen them perform with Rick Astley, Liam Gallagher and Pelle Almqvist.
