WATCH: Slayer cover Led Zeppelin’s ‘Rock and Roll’
It's typically brilliant
Thrash metal titans Slayer have covered Led Zeppelin’s ‘Rock and Roll’ during a soundcheck.
Warming up for their show at the Encana Events Centre in Dawson Creek, Canada on Monday night (14th August), Slayer’s Tom Araya, Paul Bostaph and Gary Holt launched into a version of Led Zeppelin’s timeless 1972 anthem.
Fortunately, Slayer fan Sheldon Morgan was at hand to film the cover, which you can watch here:
Although covers rarely make it into Slayer’s setlists, the band often incorporate covers into their soundchecks.
Ahead of their show in Montreal last September, Tom, Gary and Paul joined forces with Anthrax singer Joey Belladonna to belt out a cover of Bryan Adams’ ‘Summer of ‘69’.
As filmed by Anthrax guitarist Jonathan Donais, you can see footage of the performance below.
Last month in Raleigh, North Carolina the Slayer trio – minus Kerry King - also covered ZZ Top’s ‘Tush’ as a warm-up.
Slayer’s extensive six-week North American tour with Lamb of God and Behemoth opened in Bemidji, Minnesota on Wednesday 12th July and wraps up in Phoenix, Arizona this coming Sunday (20th August).
