WATCH: Of Mice & Men unleash first new song without Austin Carlile
The anthem 'Unbreakable'
Of Mice & Men have premiered their first musical output since the departure of singer Austin Carlile.
Entitled ‘Unbreakable’, the towering anthem sees bassist Aaron Pauley take on lead vocals with great aplomb. It was produced by the acclaimed Howard Benson (Sepultura, My Chemical Romance), mixed by Chris Lord-Alge (Deftones, Muse) and mastered by Chris Athens (Drake, Ozzy Osbourne).
Introducing the track, Aaron said: “We’re incredibly excited for the world to hear our brand new song, Unbreakable, which is all about staring fear in the face, overcoming fear’s ability to keep you stagnant, and telling it where it stands.
“Through this transitional time, we’ve felt the tremendous outpouring of love, encouragement, and support from our fans around the world, and we can’t wait to see you all soon. None of this would be possible without you, and we thank you all, endlessly.”
‘Unbreakable’ is available to download right now. Check out the video here:
Austin Carlile announced his exit from Of Mice & Men back in December citing the pain brought on by his rare genetic disorder Marfan syndrome.
In a poignant Instagram post, he also revealed that tears in his spine stopped him from screaming and he was at risk of permanently damaging his spinal cord and nervous system by performing live.
Of Mice & Men play the main stage at Download Festival on Saturday 10th June. Tickets are on sale from Kerrang! Radio Tickets now.
The ‘Unbreakable’ lyrics are as follows:
There are weapons in the sound,
And they echo all around.
You feel the bitter sting as you fall to the ground.
Memories and plans forgone,
Pave the way for fear to spawn,
To find a vein to feast upon.
Hoping I become undone.
But I'm not afraid,
I'm unbreakable
Can't defeat me, though I'm bleeding
Unbreakable
Though I'm bending, I'll never break.
Throwing caution to the wind,
Learning how to fight again,
I carry on regardless of the shape I'm in.
Every torch and pitchfork thrown.
Only makes the fire grow.
When it engulfs you, you will know.
That I will not be overthrown.
And I'm not afraid,
I'm unbreakable
Can't defeat me, though I'm bleeding
Unbreakable
Though I'm bending, I'll never break.
Through the firestorm, I will remain,
And you will know where you stand.
I'm not afraid,
I'm unbreakable
Can't defeat me, though I'm bleeding
Unbreakable
Though I'm bending, I'll never break.
I WILL REMAIN.
