Father and son unite
Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo jammed with his 12-year-old son Tye at Korn’s gig in Lima, Peru on Saturday night (29th April).
Child prodigy Tye has been performing with Korn on the South American leg of their world tour after bassist Reginald ‘Fieldy’ Arvizu was forced to quit due to “unforeseen circumstances.”
Lauded by rock fans for his precision playing at such a young age, Tye has been joined on the road by both his dad Robert and mum Chloé Trujillo.
Celebrating the end of Korn’s seven-date tour at the Vivo X el Rock festival in Peru, Robert joined the band on stage to perform the 1994 song ‘Blind’ alongside his son.
Sharing footage of the father-son collaboration on Instagram, Korn drummer Ray Luzier enthused: What a rad moment! Father & son jamming together with us last night!
Bassist Fieldy will rejoin Korn for their festival shows at Carolina Rebellion, Poinfest and Rock on the Range, however, the remainder of their tour dates have been postponed, again due to “unforeseen circumstances.”
Metallica grace the UK this October for five headline shows taking in London, Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham. Standard tickets are completely sold out, however there are select packages remaining from Kerrang! Radio Tickets.
Waxing lyrical about Tye last week, Korn guitarist James ‘Munky’ Shaffer told NME: “(Tye) knows like 17, 18 Korn songs, and he knows them really well. It’s crazy.
“All the stops, and the breaks… it’s crazy to see somebody that young so talented. He’s gonna be a professional musician, and to know that at that early of an age is just inspiring.”
