He stars as deranged surgeon Thomas Dinley
Marilyn Manson has been unveiled as a gloriously repugnant new character in supernatural TV series Salem.
The shock rocker, whose song ‘Cupid Carries a Gun’ soundtracks the show about the 17th Century Salem witch trials, has been cast in the role of the barber/surgeon Thomas Dinley.
In a newly premiered 20-second teaser trailer we see a bespectacled Marilyn – real name Brian Hugh Warner – run his hands over a mutilated female corpse while proclaiming: “Most of us die as we are born. In agony.”
He then proceeds to pluck a leech from the woman’s face before slurping it down. Delightful.

“My character ends up being something that could be called the devil’s advocate or the devil’s best friend,” Marilyn told EW.
“He has no moral balance. The place where Dinley operates his business is not dissimilar to my home. I collect a lot of the medical devices.”
Season 3 of Salem premieres in the States on Thursday 3rd November.
