WATCH: Foo Fighters premiere new song ‘The Sky Is A Neighbourhood’
The first taster of their new album?
Foo Fighters debuted a brand new song entitled ‘The Sky Is A Neighbourhood’ at a charity gig in San Francisco last night (15th May).
Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins performed an acoustic set at the annual Acoustic-4-A-Cure charity concert, organised by Metallica’s James Hetfield and Chickenfoot’s Sammy Hagar, and surprised fans by premiering a bluesy new track.
“I figured on the way up here, I thought ‘f*** it let’s play a news song man’,” Dave told the crowd. “We’ve never played this song in front of anybody. It’s called ‘The Sky Is A Neighbourhood’.”

‘The Sky Is A Neighbourhood’ could well be the first taster of Foo Fighters’ ninth studio album, which the band are recording throughout 2017.
Since its inception three years ago, Acoustic-4-A-Cure has featured a plethora of very special performances and collaborations.
In 2014, Hetfield covered The Beatles’ ‘In My Life’ acoustically and also joined forces with Green Day singer Bille Joe Armstrong to reinterpret Bob Seger’s ‘Turn The Page’.
Hagar, Hetfield, Billie Joe Armstrong, Joe Satriani, Pat Monahan & Heart’s Nancy Wilson also united to cover Bob Dylan’s ‘Rainy Day Women #12’.
Two years ago, Hetfield and Jerry Cantrell took on Blue Oyster Cult’s ‘Don’t Fear The Reaper’, while Hagar and his Chickenfoot bandmates Chad Smith and Joe Satriani performed the blues classic ‘The Thrill Is Gone’ made famous by B.B. King in 1970.
Then last year, Metallica’s ‘Motorbreath’ was given a beguiling country-style makeover by Hetfield.
Foo Fighters headline Glastonbury Festival next month. There are currently no other UK shows in the pipeline.
