The mighty Fall Out Boy announce seventh studio album ‘M A N I A’ and premiered the new song ‘Young and Menace’.

A bold statement of intent for the quartet, ‘Young and Menace’ is a hyper-eclectic beast with elements of dubstep and crunching EDM beats all glued together with Fall Out Boy’s trademark guitars and vocals.

Reflecting upon the song’s title, Pete Wentz said: “There’s a lyric in the song, ‘trying to send the world a message, I was young and a menace,’ that reminded me of growing up in the suburbs of Chicago.

“I didn't look like anyone there or feel like anyone – I felt like an outsider in my own town. It wasn't until I discovered punk rock and that community that I realized I did fit in somewhere in this word – with the other people who didn't fit in.

“It’s hard to rationalize rage – it’s hard to quantify anxiety... this song does neither. It embraces the wave of those emotions.”

Of the video, Pete said: “The concept is the idea of a movie like Elf, where he realizes maybe he isn’t an elf after all, but ours has less comedic elements and more real world implication. She realizes that maybe she is human after all – but maybe the line between us and monsters is blurrier than we think.”

‘Young and Menace’ is the first taster of Fall Out Boy’s new album ‘M A N I A’, which lands via Virgin EMI on Friday 15th September 2017.

The band are supporting its release by heading out on a lengthy 20-city US arena tour throughout the autumn. $1 from every ticket of the tour will go towards the band’s newly launched Fall Out Boy Fund which will support a number of charities in the Chicago area.

The ‘Young and Menace’ lyrics are as follows:

We’ve gone way too fast for way too long

And we were never supposed to make it half this far

And I lived so much life, lived so much life

I think that God is gonna have to kill me twice

Kill me twice like my name was Nikki Sixx

I woke up in my shoes again but somewhere you exist singing

Oops I, did it again, I forgot what I was losing my mind about

Oh, I only wrote this down to make you press rewind

And send a message that I was young and a menace

Woke up on the wrong side of reality

And there’s a madness that’s just coursing right through me

And as far as the time, far as the time

Not sure I’m there yet but I’m searching out the ride

Oops I, did it again, I forgot what I was losing my mind about

Oh, I only wrote this down to make you press rewind

And send a message that I was young and a menace

If I am off the deep end

I’m just here to become the best yet

I’m just here for the psych assessment

I’m just here for the the...

We’ve gone way too fast for way too long

And we were never supposed to make it half this far
