WATCH: A Day To Remember reveal they’re starting work on their seventh album later this year!
They chat to Johnny Doom at Download Festival
Shortly before their prestigious penultimate slot on the Download Festival Main Stage on Saturday, A Day To Remember vocalist Jeremy McKinnon and lead guitarist Kevin Skaff had a quick chat with Kerrang! Radio’s Johnny Doom.
The Floridian quintet’s slot was their fifth in nine years at Download Festival and Jeremy admits that climbing up the bill each time has “been quite the ride.”
Reflecting on the moment they first arrived at this year’s rock extravaganza, Kevin said they were immediately humbled: “It was crazy, we came backstage and we go to our backstage room and usually it’s just y’know just one room for like everything.
“They were like ‘oh yeah you guys have this one, this one and this one and your own bathroom’. And we were like ‘What?! Are you serious? Alright we’ll take it but if it’s not for us don’t yell at us.’ But man it’s cool.”
Excitingly, having toured their acclaimed sixth album ‘Bad Vibrations’ for the past year, including an epic UK arena jaunt with New Found Glory, Neck Deep and Moose Blood, they’re looking to start work on the next record soon.
“We’re always writing new stuff and there’s some things that have started to be worked on but not as a full band yet,” says Jeremy. “So I think we’re going to finish this (tour), we’ve got another few things for the rest of the year planned, nothing too crazy, but we’re gonna start putting some new stuff together sometime in the near future I guess.”
Kevin adds: “Probably end of year, somewhere around there.”
