WATCH: Billy Corgan threatens to punch stage-invading fan
He wasn't very impressed
Billy Corgan was mightily unimpressed when a fan invaded the stage during The Smashing Pumpkins’ gig at the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis, Tennessee last week.
The band were midway through a cover of The Rolling Stones’ ‘Angie’ during the final encore when the invader launched himself on the stage and stood directly behind lynchpin Billy Corgan.
Clearly riled by the grinning and awkwardly dancing fan, Corgan told him: "Get the f off my stage before I punch you in the fing face."
The 2,400 capacity crowd cheered as the stage invader shuffled off before Corgan pulled a sign of the horns. You can watch the incident here (Warning: it’s quite sweary):
The Smashing Pumpkins closed their acoustic-electric 'In Plainsong' tour in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Sunday night having played 19 dates across the length and breadth of the US.
During their two Los Angeles Ace Hotel shows in March and Chicago Civic Opera House gig last month, co-founder James Iha joined them on stage for the first time in 16 years.
Iha performed the entire Siamese Suite of ‘Mayonaise’, ‘Soma’, ‘Rocket’, ‘Spaceboy’, ‘Today’, ‘Whir’ and ‘Disarm’.
