WATCH: Architects unleash powerful new single ‘Doomsday’
Tom Searle started writing the song before his death

Architects have premiered their blistering new song ‘Doomsday’ and its accompanying video.
The first new material to be released by the band since Tom Searle’s untimely death from cancer in August 2016, it’s a goosebump-inducing anthem of the highest calibre opening with haunting atmospherics before launching into the pulverising tune.
Tom started penning ‘Doomsday’ before he died with his brother and bandmate Dan finishing the highly potent lyrics.
Lines include: “You said you cheated death / But heaven was in my head / They say the good die young / No use in saying what is done is done / ‘Cos its not enough / And when the night gives way / It’s like a brand new doomsday.”
Writing on Twitter, Dan said: “Doomsday was a song that Tom had started but never got to finish. Completing it for him was a massive responsibility. I hope you all enjoy x
“Doomsday is not from an album we've recorded. It's just 1 song. It's just the start. Our way of showing everyone that there's still a future.”
The song is accompanied by a visually striking and highly symbolic video that’s directed by Stuart Birchall and sees Dan transcend into another realm.

Replying to fans on a Twitter thread, Dan confirmed that the song will feature on a future album, and that Josh Middleton from Sylosis plays guitar on the track. Josh has been playing Tom's guitar parts on tour with Architects recently.
Director Stuart Birchall also shared behind-the-scenes photos of the band on set for the filming of the visually spectacular video:
Don’t forget, Architects play their biggest headline show of their career at London’s 11,000 capacity Alexandra Palace on Saturday 3rd February 2018 with support from While She Sleeps and Counterparts.
