Unseen Footage Of Nirvana’s Final Los Angeles Show Emerges: WATCH
It was filmed in December 1993
Previously unseen footage of Nirvana’s final show in Los Angeles has emerged online – watch it below.
US filmmaker David Markey uploaded the video to YouTube to mark the 20th anniversary of the show at the LA Forum that took place in December 1993.
In a poignant video description, 50-year-old Markey wrote: “20 years ago tonight (December 30, 1993) I stood on Kurt's side of the stage at my hometown's Los Angeles Forum and captured the last set I would see of this band.
“A band that I had worked with, toured with; people that I would call my friends. A band that both the world and myself really loved (can't really say this has happened since.) Within just a few short months it would sadly all be over.”
The 15-minute video features the band’s cover of Scottish band the Vaselines’ ‘Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam’ and David Bowie’s ‘The Man Who Sold The World’ plus ‘All Apologies’ and a snippet of ‘On A Plain’.
In his three-decade career, Dave Markey has directed videos for Black Flag, Mudhoney, Sonic Youth, Meat Puppets and Shonen Knife.
His acclaimed documentary ‘1991: The Year Punk Broke’ focused on Sonic Youth’s European tour and also featured footage of Nirvana, Dinosaur Jr and The Ramones.
Nirvana played their final live show on 1st March 1994 at Flughafen München-Riem in Munich, Germany.
