U2 To Release New Album This Year
The follow-up to 2009’s ‘No Line on the Horizon’ is expected very soon
A U2 spokesperson has confirmed that the band are planning to release their thirteenth studio album this year.
Reports circulated earlier this summer claiming the Irish rock giants were delaying the record until 2015 so they could perfect the finishing touches with producer Paul Epworth.
However, in a brief statement to Rolling Stone magazine, a band spokesperson said: "We've always said an album is expected this year."
There’s no concrete release date for the as-yet-untitled record but various sources have said a single is due in September with the album following in October.
Bono, Larry, Adam and The Edge have been working with Gnarls Barkley star Danger Mouse – aka Brian Burton - whose previous production credits include The Black Keys and Gorillaz.
U2’s previous album, 2009’s ‘No Line on the Horizon’, debuted at number one in over 30 countries around the globe.
Their November 2013 song ‘Ordinary Love’ for the film ‘Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom’ won a Golden Globe for Best Original Song and was nominated for an Oscar.
One of the most successful rock bands of all time, U2 have sold an estimated 150million records worldwide since their inception in 1976.
