Listen to twenty one pilots' uplifting festive song 'Christmas Saves The Year'
The song is about hope in the face of adversity
twenty one pilots have shared their original festive song ‘Christmas Saves The Year’.
Written and recorded at singer Tyler Joseph’s home, ‘Christmas Saves The Year’ is an uplifting yuletide gem about hope in the face of adversity.
Clearly referencing the turbulent 2020 we’re all going through, Tyler sings: “But everybody wants to make it home this year / Even if the world is crumbling down... You rest assured, Christmas saves the year.”
Musically, the stripped-back track is buoyed by fuzzy synths and plenty of obligatory sleigh bells.

Back in April, twenty one pilots released the non-album single ‘Level of Concern’, which was directly inspired by the coronavirus pandemic.
Feature: The 31 greatest rock, punk and metal Christmas songs
Just like ‘Christmas Saves The Year’, ‘Level of Concern’ was imbued with a message of hope and a portion of proceeds from sales went to Crew Nation, a global relief fund made by Live Nation for touring and venue personnel made redundant due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
twenty one pilots - Christmas Saves The Year lyrics:
Snow falls down from the grey sky
Ashes fall in the sea
Plans are thrown to the wayside
Frozen days of the week
*
But everybody wants to make it home this year
Even if the world is crumbling down
Cause everybody’s got somebody who’s got their name on a shelf
With cheap décor and flavoured cheer
You rest assured, Christmas saves the year
*
Dust off old photo boxes
This one’s marked ‘92
Years past seemed so much grander
This one needs to come through
*
Cause everybody wants to make it home this year
Even if the world is crumbling down
Cause everybody’s got somebody who’s got their name on a shelf
With cheap décor and flavoured cheer
You rest assured, Christmas saves the year
