twenty one pilots have hilariously spoofed the album cover for Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s ‘A Star Is Born’ soundtrack.
Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun released their fifth studio album ‘Trench’ last Friday (5th October) and are currently locked in a chart battle on both sides of the Atlantic with ‘A Star Is Born’, which was released on the same day.
In a rallying cry urging their fans to buy ‘Trench’ in their droves and take on the might of the movie soundtrack, Twenty One Pilots wrote: “Make the right decision today at your local record store, online, or wherever cds are sold. our new album TRENCH is out now.”
Accompanying the message is a spoof of the ‘A Star Is Born’ artwork with Tyler and Josh gazing lovingly into each other’s eyes alongside the title ‘A Trench Is Born’.
Nothing short of inspired! Unsurprisingly, the spoof went viral and has been retweeted 44,000 times and counting.
If twenty one pilots do manage to beat Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper to the chart summit, it will be their first UK number one album; May 2015’s ‘Blurryface’ debuted at number 5.
Also vying for a lofty chart position this week are You Me At Six with their aptly titled sixth studio album ‘VI’.
twenty one pilots grace the UK in February and March for completely sold out arena shows in Birmingham, Glasgow, Manchester and three nights at London SSE Arena Wembley.
