It's coming this summer
Last updated 8th May 2019
Tool have finally confirmed the release date for their fervently awaited fifth studio album.
Last night (Tuesday 7th May), Tool unveiled the date of ‘August 30th’ during their sold-out show at The BJCC in Birmingham, Alabama when it flashed up on the video screens before the encore.
Frontman Maynard James Keenan then implored the thousands of fans in attendance to share the news of the release date via social media.
Soon afterwards, Tool posted an animated video to Twitter that once again confirmed the release date of Friday 30th August 2019.
The as-yet-untitled record is Tool’s first studio album since ‘10,000 Days’ more than 13 long years ago.
Just like their opening 2019 tour date at Welcome To Rockville in Jackson, Florida on Sunday (5th May), Tool played two new songs in Birmingham – ‘Descending’ and ‘Invincible’. It’s widely expected that these tracks with appear on the album.
Tool’s brief North American tour continues in Louisville, Kentucky tonight and wraps up at Chicago Open Air Festival on Sunday 19th May.
