The Offspring launch 'Cockpit Karaoke'
The new video series sees them singing along from inside their own jet
Last updated 29th Jul 2021
Punk legends The Offspring have launched their own video series titled ‘Cockpit Karaoke’ via their own YouTube Channel.
The series features frontman Bryan ‘Dexter’ Holland and guitarist Kevin ‘Noodles’ Wasserman singing along to some of their own hit tunes from the comfort of a private jet cockpit.
The venture comes as a nod to James Corden’s famed ‘Carpool Karaoke’, with the plane also being flown by Holland, who is a licensed pilot. (Thankfully.)
The duo can be seen and heard taking part in the series’ first episode singing ‘Come Out And Play’, along with the ‘Keep ‘Em Separated Guy’, Jason 'Blackball McLean', a friend of the band, in tow. On the new project, Holland claims: “Since I’m a pilot, we thought it’d be great if Noodles and I had some fun and got to sing along to some of our many hits.”
He continues: “We know everyone’s heard of ‘Carpool Karaoke’, but ‘Cockpit Karaoke’? No one’s done that!”
Whilst on the flight out amidst the clear skies, images of city landscapes, rolling green hills, and the occasional snowy mountain top, makes for a picturesque backdrop.
‘Cockpit Karaoke’ follows in the wake of The Offspring’s latest album, ‘Let The Bad Times Roll’, which was released last April via Concord Records and was the first album to be released in 10 years after 2012’s LP ‘Days Go By’.

11 of our favourite nu-metal bands then and now:
Then: Korn
Korn formed in Bakersfield, California in 1993 and are widely cited as being one of the leading torchbearers of the nu-metal genre. Singer Jonathan Davis, guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer, basisst Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu and guitarist Brian "Head" Welch were all members of Korn since their formation, while drummer David Silveria was a member from 1993 to 2006. Between 1994 and 1998, Korn released four studio albums – 'Korn', 'Life Is Peachy', 'Follow the Leader' and 'Issues' – that were huge critical and commercial successes and paved the way for countless other nu metal bands.
Now: Korn
The early success didn't come without costs: the band's struggles with drugs, particularly meth and alcohol, have been well documented over the years. Head quit the band in 2005, getting sober whilst finding God. After some acrimonious exchanges, he eventually returned to the band after a suprise guest performance with them in 2012. Drummer David Silveria went on hiatus in 2006 and never returned to the band, with Ray Luzier unveiled as his official replacement in 2009. Founding member Fieldy left the band indefinitely in 2021 to get some "bad habits out of my system". Throughout their distinguished career Korn have released 13 studio albums, with next LP 'The Requiem' due out in 2022, and they have sold an estimated 40 million records globally, including 10 million copies of 1998's 'Follow the Leader.' One of the most enduring nu-metal bands, Korn are still an active and hugely influential band to this very day.

The album contained an early version of the band's cover of Michael Jackson's 'Smooth Criminal', which has since become of the band's most successful songs and a huge international smash.
Now: Alien Ant Farm
Throughout their career, Alien Ant Farm have released five studio albums, two EPs and seven singles. Founding members Dryden Mitchell, Mike Cosgrove and Terry Corso are all still part of the band, but they have since been joined by Tim Peugh on bass.
