The Story So Far fan kicked off stage by Parker Cannon opens up about incident
Video footage of the kicking has gone viral
The Story So Far fan controversially kicked off stage by Parker Cannon has defended the singer’s antics and insists she’s fine.
The video of Cannon jump kicking 21-year-old Becca Ilic off stage at Toronto’s Mod Club after trying to take a selfie at the weekend has gone viral, clocking up almost 2million views and hitting headlines across the globe.
In the face of a huge backlash against Cannon, Ilic insists she has no hard feelings towards him and can’t wait to see the band again.
“It was all in good fun in my opinion, and it wasn’t even a hard kick, just like a push or nudge,” Ilic said in an email to AP.
“I know that I shouldn’t have been up there for that long of time—especially with my phone—but I’m not hurt, and I don’t have any malicious feelings toward the band whatsoever. I laughed when I fell into the crowd and I kept rocking out.”
She added: “I still love Parker Cannon, the Story So Far, their music, their shows, everything more than ever. I understand what could happen at hardcore shows, and, honestly, I have been seriously injured before at different shows by the crowd, but I wasn’t injured by Parker!
“I just want to set the record straight that I’m fine and I hope this doesn’t change anyone's opinion on the band, because it shouldn’t! I can’t wait to be at their next show, only I’ll cool it with the Snapchats!”
The Mod Club were less forgiving of Cannon, banning The Story So Far from performing at the venue for life and calling the singer’s actions “cowardly.”
"On behalf of the venue we are appalled by the actions of the singer and do not condone these actions by anyone," Mod Club general manager Jorge Dias said in a statement.
"There was no report of injuries and the venue will not allow the band to play the venue again for their actions. I have never imagined and never seen anything like that at the venue in 14 years in operation. That was a very cowardly act."
The Story So Far and Parker Cannon are yet to comment on events.
