Stone Sour enter studio to record sixth studio album
Drummer Ray Mayorga says they're ready to go
Stone Sour are entering the recording studio to start laying down their eagerly awaited new studio album.
In a series of posts on his Instagram account, drummer Ray Mayorga shared images from the rehearsal rooms and commented on one pic: “That's a wrap on rehearsals. Now off to record! #stonesour #studiolife #2017 #dw #sabian #promark #evans.”
Although there is no concrete release schedule yet, the band are reportedly eyeing up a summer release date for their record.
When it finally sees the light of day, the album will be Stone Sour’s first long-player in over fours – the second House of Gold & Bones instalment was unleashed back in April 2013.

Enthusing about Stone Sour’s new material last summer, Corey Taylor said they have already demoed 18 songs and it’s “some of the best s*** we've ever written."
Corey told Billboard: "I'm chomping at the bit to record it and get it ready to go. The cool thing is that it's got a lot of different directions, but at it's core it's very hard rock, and I mean that in an almost sort of modern/classic sense.
“There are some hints of punk in there. There's some cool hard rock/heavy metal. There's just all these really cool elements that we've never really allowed ourselves to go into.
“We're really to kind of push even further with this. It'll feel like it's all over the map, but it will be very unifying when everyone hears it. It's exciting, man."
Fans of Corey’s other legendary band Slipknot will have a lot longer to wait for a new album – in November he broke the news on Twitter that the album is at least two years away.
