In possibly the worst kept secret in rock, three-quarters of the classic Smashing Pumpkins line-up have reunited for an extensive 2018 tour.

Founding members Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin and James Iha together with Jeff Schroeder (D’arcy Wretzky is, of course, absent in extremely acrimonious circumstances) will play 36-dates in North American throughout the summer on the Shiny and Oh So Bright Tour.

A true nostalgia-fest, The Smashing Pumpkins will exclusively perform material from their first five studio albums on the extensive trek – ‘Gish’. ‘Siamese Dream’, ‘Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness’, ‘Adore’ and ‘Machina.’

Band lynchpin and sole constant member, Billy Corgan, says: "Some 30 years ago, as The Smashing Pumpkins, James Iha and I began a musical journey in the cramped rear bedroom of my father's house. And so it's magic to me that we're able to coalesce once more around the incredible Jimmy Chamberlin, to celebrate those songs we've made together.”

Enthusing about the shows, he added: "This show and staging will be unlike any we've ever done, and will feature a set unlike any we've ever played. For if this is a chance at a new beginning, we plan on ushering it in with a real bang.”

Having hosted a countdown timer on their official website since last week, at 5pm yesterday (15th February) The Smashing Pumpkins officially announced their return with a dramatic promotional video.

It sees the original ‘Siamese Dream’ album cover stars Ali Laenger and LySandra Roberts light up a Smashing Pumpkins heart logo with a flame thrower.

As yet there are no UK dates but we’ll let you know if any are announced soon!
