Watch: New video claims to confirm identity of Slipknot's Tortilla Man
Very intriguing
A newly shared video has seemingly confirmed the identity of enigmatic Slipknot percussionist Tortilla Man.
Slipknot officially unveiled their new percussionist back in May 2019 when they premiered their ‘Unsainted’ video and issued a new press photo to promote their sixth studio album ‘We Are Not Your Kind’.
Commenting on the mystique surrounding the band member fans affectionately dubbed “Tortilla Man”, Corey Taylor said over the summer: “It's driven people so f---ing crazy... Now, we're like, 'We're never gonna tell now.' It's really fun.”
Back in August, a Reddit user called Les Connelly claimed to have cracked Tortilla Man’s identity, claiming it’s Michael Pfaff, who played keys for M. Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan’s side project Dirty Little Rabbits.
Connelly came to the conclusion after Slipknot guitarist Jim Root said in a recent interview: “(Tortilla Man) is a world-class pianist; he’s a great percussionist; he is schooled in music. He’s not just a garage musician who came up and learned on his own.”
Connelly wrote on Reddit: “(Pfaff) played organ and keyboards and Shawn Crahan was the drummer. They had a very strong musical relationship and were the core of the group. They were even introduced to each other by Sid Wilson.”
Arguing his case further, Connelly added: “He is a similar build, height and bald. Check out the videos below, I think he even moves like the new guy.”
He also supplied videos that purported to show that Pfaff moving the same way as Tortilla Man, and he noted: “He is a similar build, height and bald.”
Apparently confirming Connelly’s theory, yesterday (3rd December) Brazilian Slipknot fan site Slipknot News posted a video of the band arriving at an airports in Mexico and Costa Rica in recent days.
Seen in the clip are members including Corey Taylor, Mick Thomson, Shawn Crahan and Jim Root, plus a bald man who bears a striking resemblance to Michael Pfaff.
