Slipknot’s Corey Taylor denies Clown is axing his name due to 'killer clown' craze
He is forced to rubbish gullible journalists
Slipknot singer Corey Taylor has been forced deny Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan is changing his name after gullible journalists were taken in by a joke.
Referencing the ‘killer clown’ craze that is currently sweeping the planet, Taylor provided a tongue in cheek statement to BBC topical comedy show No Such Thing As The News.
He said: “The effects have been such that even our dear Clown has downgraded himself to ‘Mime’ in order to distance himself from these hedonistic doppelgangers until the coast is clear.
“Remember, a real clown doesn’t need a knife to intimidate – just a bat and a good cold stare.”
Numerous news outlets including The Sun, NME and Entertainment Weekly erroneously reported Corey’s comments as fact forcing Corey to take to Twitter to refute them.
He wrote: “Guys- No, Clown did NOT change his name. That was a FAKE statement for @qipodcast THAT I WROTE for humor's sake. Cut n Paste journos...”
No Such Thing As The News is a spin-off from the long-running Sandi Toksvig hosted BBC panel show QI.
A massive fan of QI, Taylor has fulfilled one of his lifetime ambitions and guests on an episode in the new series, which kicks off next Friday (21st October).
