'.5: The Gray Chapter' hit number two this weekend

Slipknot narrowly missed out on the album chart top spot yesterday with their blistering new record ‘.5: The Gray Chapter.’

The masked metallers charted at number two on the official chart behind singer-songwriter Ben Howard.

It became their fourth consecutive Top 5 album on British shores following their 2001 chart-topper ‘Iowa’, 2004’s ‘Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)’ which peaked in fifth spot and 2008’s number two ‘All Hope Is Gone’.

Despite their narrow chart miss in the UK, the band are likely to storm in at number one Stateside today with first week sales of 100,000.

‘.5: The Gray Chapter’ is the first Slipknot album without the late-great Paul Gray and Joey Jordison who acrimoniously left the group in December.

Slipknot headlined their self-curated Knotfest in San Bernardino, California on Saturday and Sunday night and live streamed their epic performances.

The mouth-watering bill also boasted the likes of Danzig, Anthrax, Suicide Silence, Five Finger Death Punch, Killswitch Engage, Napalm Death, Testament, Volbeat, Devil Driver, Carcass and The Black Dahlia Murder.
