Slipknot and Stone Sour legend Corey Taylor has been left devastated after $36,000 (£24,000) of equipment was stolen from his home in Iowa.

The 39-year-old vocalist returned home to his Des Moines, Iowa residence after a month long tour of Europe on Saturday (6th July) when he discovered he had been robbed.

According to the Des Moines Register, Taylor informed police that he believed an acquaintance had taken the gear while he was away.

The equipment included two Paul Gray signature guitars – not the late bassist’s personal guitars, as has been reported by some sections of the media.

West Des Moines Police Lt. Jim Barrett has since confirmed that some items have been recovered in a local guitar shop, however he did not state how much was still missing. At the time of writing, no arrests have been made.

Taking to Twitter last night, Corey wrote: “Thank you all for your concerns. I appreciate them and all that the Des Moines community is doing for me. If you have any info please contact the West Des Moines PD. FYI- the basses stolen were not Paul's personal basses. They were Paul Gray Signature Basses from Ibanez.”

Corey Taylor’s month-long European jaunt included a triumphant Friday headline slot with Slipknot at Download plus an early evening slot on Sunday with Stone Sour.
