Slayer, Exodus, Amen, QOTSA Stars Form Supergroup
They’re recording music for a film
Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo, Exodus guitarist Gary Holt, Amen singer Casey Chaos and former Queens of The Stone Age bassist Nick Oliveri have formed a new rock supergroup.
The as-yet-untitled foursome are working with producer Ross Robinson to make music for a film about Phil Anselmo’s infamous New Orleans haunted mansion ‘House of Shock’.
The project was devised by Lombardo and Holt (who was filling in for Jeff Hanneman when he was critically ill from a spider bite) during Slayer soundchecks, as Gary explains to Noisecreep:
"Whenever Dave and I would get on deck for soundcheck, we'd go up there first and jam make up stuff everyday.
"It just comes easy for us. We're both into being spontaneous and improvising. We probably have an album's worth of material."
Ross Robinson added that he was approached by Marilyn Manson producer Dean Karr to make music for a film about House of Shock and immediately got in touch with the duo.
"The first thing I wanted to do was tap into this energy between Gary and Dave," he told Noisecreep. "And Casey has this amazing ability to do these amazing choruses and be so violent and ruthless at it."
Musically, the band have described themselves as riff heavy and cite punk acts The Exploited and Black Flag as influencing their sound.
The House Of Shock film is tentatively set for release later this year.
