Following in the hallowed footsteps of beer-brewing bands including Iron Maiden, AC/DC and Motörhead, Welsh ragga metallers Skindred are the latest rock act to launch their own beer.

A collaboration with Ross Holland, Head Brewer of Newcastle-upon-Tyne micro-brewery Box Social Brewing, Skindred’s newly launched tipple is a Jamaican Stout called Union Black.

Taking its name from Skindred’s 2011 album of the same name, the 6% ABV Union Black is described as ‘a complex, unique beer, that unites both rich roasted bitter flavours, with the sweetness of vanilla and the spice of Jamaica.’

The description continues: ‘The beer is a harmonious blend of different flavours, a fitting tribute to the band, uncompromising on flavour and texture, yet equally unique, inviting and open to everyone.’

Ross Holland comments: “This beer is the perfect representation of Box Social Brewing and Skindred. And can be enjoyed by all people, together. Best enjoyed listening to their unique sound, we hope you like it!”

Fans of Skindred and beer (aged 18 and over) can order Union Black from Box Social Brewing’s official website now.

Skindred play Download Festival this Saturday (15th June) where they appear on a Main Stage bill that boasts Alien Weaponry, Royal Republic, Power Trip, Behemoth, Trivium, Die Antwoord and headliners Slipknot.
