Led Zeppelin icon Robert Plant has been drafted in as a very special guest on Primal Scream’s upcoming new record ‘More Light’.

Guitarist Andrew Innes revealed that he and Bobby Gillespie bumped into the 64-year-old rock titan at their local post office in Primrose Hill, London and promptly asked him on board.

Andrew told the Daily Record: “Robert has a house near our studio. It is bizarre. We see him in the post office all the time.

“We were in the post office when he asked us what we were up to and Bobby told him we were working on the new record.

“He made the mistake of asking if we needed any help, so we got back to him and asked him to come and help us out.

“We also meet him from time to time in the nearby Russian tea room and walking down the street.

“It is weird to think, ‘Here’s the hammer of the gods coming’. But you don’t want to be at the back of the post office queue with Robert Plant on pension day.”

Plant has contributed vocals to a track called ‘Elimination Blues’ which fans will be able to listen to when ‘More Light’ lands on 6th May.

The Pop Group’s Mark Stewart also guests on an album track while David Holmes is on production duties.

Primal Scream’s last studio album ‘Beautiful Future’, featuring vocals from Josh Homme on ‘Necro Hex Blues’, was released in 2008.

Don’t forget Led Zeppelin are under the Kerrang! Radio Spotlight all this week with Loz & Keith, Danielle, Kate and Matt all playing classics from their unparalleled musical arsenal.
