Californian rock veterans Red Hot Chili Peppers have been unveiled as the second headliners of Isle of Wight Festival 2014.

Joining the previously confirmed Biffy Clyro, RHCP will top the Main Stage bill on Saturday 24th June in what will be their only UK show of the year.

Red Hot Chili Peppers said: “To headline the Isle of Wight Festival is a once in a lifetime opportunity, following in the footsteps of Jimi Hendrix and The Doors.

“When we were offered the slot, we jumped at the chance…it will be our only show in the UK/Ireland this year…so we intend to make it really special.”

Isle of Wight Festival promoter John Giddings added: “Finally we’ve got them! One of the most exciting rock bands of the modern era come to visit…and judging by the performances I have seen previously, will be a highlight in the music history of the festival…Rock the Wight!”

Biffy have the honours of headlining on the Friday while The 1975, Calvin Harris, Rudimental, Passenger and The Waterboys are also playing across the weekend.

Taking place at Seaclose Park from Thursday 12th to Sunday 15th June 2014, tickets to Isle of Wight Festival are on sale now. Head to www.isleofwightfestival.com for more info.
