Randy Blythe's Manslaughter Trial Begins

He appears in court in the Czech Republic today

Randy Blythe’s manslaughter trial has started today (4th February) at Prague City Court.

The Lamb of God frontman posted a photo of himself on Instagram earlier this morning, writing: "And so it begins. I am calm and prepared. Everyone, thanks for your good thoughts and prayers. Have a nice day, y'all!"

Blythe’s charges relate to the death of a fan a month after a Lamb of God gig at Abaton in the Czech capital in May 2010.

The 41-year-old is accused of pushing teenage fan, Daniel Nosek, from the stage and “inflicting bodily harm that resulted in death” – a charge that Blythe categorically denies.

According to Blabbermouth, Blythe told the court: "I've kept my word. I said that I would come back to court today and I did. I do not shy away from responsibility.

“I'm not a person who runs away from problems. But I do not want to be punished for something I did not do."

Randy added: "The fan's death breaks my heart. I never saw Daniel and I never came in contact with him."

In June last year, Blythe was arrested by Czech police ahead of a Lamb of God gig in Prague. Caliming he was unaware of the fans’ death, Blythe was held in custody for 37 days and later released on bail.

As well as the criminal charge, Nosek’s parents are seeking 10million Czech Koruna in damages from Blythe (approximately £336,000).

If found guilty of manslaughter he could face five to ten years behind bars.
