Queens of the Stone Age to record seventh album this year
The follow-up to 2013's acclaimed '... Like Clockwork'
Queens of the Stone Age are planning to hit the studio later this year to start work on their new record.
After Josh Homme recently confirmed the same line-up of Troy Van Leeuwen, Dean Fertita, Michael Shuman and Jon Theodore is “locked in”, it’s now transpired they’re plotting to record the follow-up to 2013’s acclaimed ‘… Like Clockwork.’
“We’ve already started talking about what we’re gonna do next for the next Queens record,” guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen told 2 Hours With Matt Pinfield.
“There’s tons of ideas that are bouncing around … We’re going to do something before the end of the year, as far as recording goes.”
He added: “We’re excited to get back together to follow-up …Like Clockwork, which was a really, really big record for us, personally.
“It was a big record for us ’cause it was the hardest record to make. And we’re trying to not do that again. We just want to keep things simpler and try that, I guess.”
Since Queens of The Stone Age's last live performance at Rock In Rio in 2015, Josh Homme has recorded Eagles of Death Metal’s album ‘Zipper Down’ and alongside Fertita joined forces with Iggy Pop on ‘Post Pop Depression.’
Van Leeuwen formed the supergroup Gone Is Gone earlier this year with Mastodon’s Troy Sanders, At The Drive-In’s Tony Hajjar and Sencit Music founder Mike Zarin. Their self-titled debut EP was released last week.
Featuring contributions from Dave Grohl and former bass guitarist Nick Oliveri, ‘… Like Clockwork’ debuted at number one Stateside and two in the UK.
